n Saturday, the Mississinewa tennis team traveled to #22 Zionsville. Haleigh Rowley fought through the wind and a strong opponent in a classic battle, overcoming 3 match points to capture the #1 singles position. The team played well overall in the defeat. Mississinewa hosts Wabash on Tuesday.

Mississinewa Track –vs- Elwood, Madison Grant, (Lakeview Boys) (4/11/17)

The Mississinewa girls track team split a meet losing to Elwood and defeating Madison Grant. Mississinewa 62, Elwood 84, M-G 18. The girls track team was led by its group of distance runners as the winners for Mississinewa were Amanda Baldwin in the 1600m (6:21) and Aurora Fisher in the 3200m (13:23). They were also part of the winning 4×800 relay (11:55) along with Morgan Humphrey, and Kayla Webb.

The Mississinewa boys track team was victorious in a 4 team meet. The boys defeated Elwood (61 pts), Madison Grant (53 pts), and Lakeview (3 pts) by scoring 102 points. The team was led by multiple winners Kody Cowgill, Brennan Butche, and Jeshon McClung. Cowgill won the 100m (11.4) and 400m (54.9) and was part of the winning 4×100 relay (48.3) along with Heisman Skeens, Gage Peterson, and Ethan Stephenson. McClung won both jumping events; High Jump (6’) and Long Jump (19’ 7”), while Butche won the 1600m (4:35) and 3200m (11:06). Skeens won the 200m (24.1) and the 4×800 relay team consisting of Jacob Ehmer, Cory Quakenbush, Sam Robinson, and Johnathon Tucker was also victorious (9:35).

BASEBALL:

Oak Hill defeated Bluffton 10-3 in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday. Wes Transier pitched 4 inning had 3 runs on 6 hits and 3 strikeouts. Jaren Emery pitched 3 innings had 3 hits and 4 strikeouts. Owen Perkins went 1-4 with a grand slam homer. Nate Alston was 2-3. Wes Transier was 2-3 with a record 5 stolen bases. Brody Hardcastle was 2-4.

Game 2:
Oak Hill won 11-8. Danny Nally pitched 4 innings had 5 runs on 6 hits with 1 strikeout. Bradon Nelson was 4-4 with 6 RBI’s. Brody Hardcastle went 2-3 with 1 RBI.

The Mississinewa baseball team defeated Northwestern 7-6 on Saturday. With their win the Indians improve their record to 4-2.

Trailing 6-3 in the top of the 7th inning Noah Harris hit a grand slam to put the Indians up. Cade McCoin closed the game and securing the win.

The Indians pounded out 10 hits being led by Cade McCoin with 3 hits including 2 doubles. In addition, Harris, Jalen Martin and Andrew Weiss each had 2 hits a piece. Noah Harris finished with 4 RBI’s.

Nolan Young started on the mound throwing 5 innings with three strikeouts. Cade McCoin pitched the final two innings picking up the win.
