Sophomore Del’Reann Horton’s clutch three point basket with 15 seconds left in the game sealed the Marion victory 29-28 over Oak Hill in exciting junior varsity girls’ basketball action Saturday night.
The Giants used turnovers by the Golden Eagles to build an early 11-5 lead in the first quarter. Oak Hill responded by outscoring Marion 4-3 in the second quarter to close the half behind 14-9. In the third quarter junior Sarah Wood, who scored 10 points to lead Oak Hill, sparked the Golden Eagles to cut the deficit to 21-19. The final quarter was a back and forth struggle with the home the taking the only advantage of the evening at 28-26 before Horton’s decisive basket.
