Oak Hill beats Traders Point Christian

It was a battle of Golden Eagles in the afternoon volleyball match at Lakeland Christian Saturday as Oak Hill took on Traders Point Christian. After four sets the girls from Oak Hill prevailed with 3-1 win by scores of 25-9, 21-25, 25-9, and 25-19.
Oak Hill maintained their momentum from the morning by starting with a 7-2 lead. . The Golden Eagles from Oak Hill used four kills from sophomore Ajua Smith and three kills from sophomore Kristin Dubois to expand their advantage to 18-6. Traders Point would not be able to mount a comeback as Oak Hill cruised to the 25-9 triumph.
Traders Point proved in second game they were ready to play volleyball. In this set they would pull ahead 6-2 behind the powerful spiking of sophomore Fehintolu Odelowowo. The Golden Eagles from Indianapolis slowly moved their lead to 15-7 before Oak Hill began a comeback. A 7-2 run allowed the lady Eagles to close the gap to 17-14, but they would get no closer falling to Traders Point 25-21.
Traders Point continued their roll into the third with 4-1 start, before Oak Hill responded with a 5-1 spurt of their own to grab a 6-5 advantage. Oak Hill scratched ahead to a 11-8 lead and then exploded on an 11 point run behind the serving of Dubois who had five aces to jump in front 22-8. Senior Christina Webb added three aces in the 25-9 win.
The final set of the day followed a similar pattern to game three with Traders Point taking an early 6-3 lead, but Oak Hill responded quickly to gain a slim one point 8-7 edge. The rest of the game was a back and forth tussle with Oak Hill holding on 20-19 late in the set. At this point they used a five point run to capture the game 25-19.
Oak Hill, who finishes the season with a 11-18 record and 3-4 in the CIC, will compete in the Southwood sectional on Thursday against Northfield.
