Oak Hill defeated host Lakeland Christian 3-0 with scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-12 in the opening match of a triple dual of high school volleyball at Warsaw Saturday morning.
The Golden Eagles set the tone for the morning with a 11-3 lead to begin the first game. The homestanding Cougars tried to stay in the game, but no match for Oak Hill at the net behind the powerful spiking of senior Toni Lautzenheiser as Oak Hill increased its lead to 20-7. Lakeland Christian used a last ditch effort to edge 23-14 before the Eagles grab two of final three points and a 25-15 win.
In game two the visitors began to show their dominance as they jumped to a 7-0 advantage, After two points by the Cougars, Oak Hill ripped off eight of the next points aided by the effective serving of freshman Brittany McCorkle and sophomore Kristin Dubois to secure a commanding 16-3 lead. Lakeland Christian Lakeland tried to battle back at scores of 20-9 and 22-11, but it was not near enough as the Golden Eagles cruised to the 25-14 victory.
The third and final game was another impressive performance for Oak Hill. The Eagles would never trail in the set with early leads of 9-2 and 14-4. Oak Hill again was strong at the net with three kills by Lautzenheiser and two kills by Dubois and fellow sophomore Ajua Smith fueling the 25-10 victory.
Oak Hill improves their record to 10-18 and 3-4 in the CIC takes on Traders Point on Saturday afternoon in their second match. Lakeland Christian drops to 4-15 hosts Elkhart Christian on Thursday.
