Carroll scored an easy 3-0 victory over Oak Hill in varsity volleyball action at Mier, Indiana on Monday night. Game scores for the match were 25-20, 25-12, and 26-24 in a non-conference clash.
In the first game, the visiting Crusaders built a 12-7 lead behind the solid serving of junior Lauren Worl. The Golden Eagles scratched their way within two points at 16-14 before a Carroll four point spurt led to the 25-20 win.
In game two the visitors from Flora, IN, exploded to a 14-5 advantage because of the powerful spiking of junior Madison Miller. After expanding their lead to 20-6, Carroll overcame Oak Hill’s comeback efforts for the 25-12 win.
The third game saw the Eagles grab an early 5-3 before the Crusaders tied the game at 7-7. The remainder of the match was tight with Oak Hill erasing a 20-17 deficit to tie Carroll at 24-24. The Crusaders scored the final two points to secure the game at 26-24. Oak Hill was led that night by the nine kills of senior Toni Lautzenheiser.
Oak Hill, who drops to 6-10 overall, will host Alexandria in CIC action Wednesday. Carroll, whose record improves to 15-1, plays at Tri Central on Tuesday.
